Online Offsite Data Backup

ActiveVault addresses the concerns of organisations who understand their data is their business and wish to protect it with a secure offsite backup. ActiveVault provides an efficient and automated backup process; conversely the recovery of data is fast and simple making your data available for instant recovery on demand. ActiveVault sends an encrypted backup copy of your data over the internet to our secure platform, providing an automated offsite backup solution for your organisation. ActiveOffice can also implement a strategy for offsite backup with disk to tape for long-term archiving if required.

Advanced Data Security

ActiveVault makes use of the HTTPS protocol for communication between your servers, laptops and desktops and the ActiveVault Platform. Data is stored on the ActiveVault Platform using 256-bit AES encryption, preventing anyone other than your trusted administrators accessing your information. Backup account encryption keys are not stored with the data and are only available to your internal nominated staff. Industry standard techniques are applied to ensure the integrity and security of all data protected with ActiveVault.

Backup Automation

ActiveVault protection for Desktop and Laptop is completely automatic so you never need remember to backup company data. Intelligent file selection is also included, so important files are immediately protected. Administrator level file exclusion effectively enforces your backup policies, ensuring you are not backing MP3’s or other non business related content.

Protection of File Servers

ActiveVault is the trusted backup and retrieval solution for file servers. No matter what the size of your company, ActiveVault protection provides a robust file based backup solution for data stored on your critical file servers. ActiveVault protection for Servers includes support for Open File backup, and uses Snap Shot technology to physical media to handle large data volume transfers on initial backup and full data retrieval.

Protection of Server Applications

Adding to its features and functionality, ActiveVault protection for Servers supports popular databases and applications. ActiveVault protection for Servers offers online backup agents for MS Exchange, MS SQL Server, Lotus Notes, Sybase, Oracle, and GroupWise. A powerful scripting plug-in is also available to use with other databases and applications.

Protection of Desktops and Laptops

Half of business data is generated and stored outside of central servers on a variety of devices including desktops, laptops and mobile phones. The majority of these users do not backup their data at all. ActiveVault for Desktops and Laptops is a secure, automated backup system that intelligently backs up critical files to the secure ActiveVault platform. This ensures that your business data is safely under your control. While a user is remote, they also have full secure access to their backup set through the ActiveVault Web Portal.

The ActiveVault service is delivered within the UK and is located within our highly secure, ISO270001, ex MOD nuclear bunker facilities in Kent and Newbury. This service has been specifically constructed to serve UK based customers. This is particularly important in the event of a disaster, when shipping large volumes of data on physical media in a timely fashion is critical to your business.

Professional Services Included

Your organisation is assigned a dedicated engineer throughout the duration of the ActiveVault backup service implementation. All consultancy and professional services required for successful deployment are included with the service subscription. Professional services may include the import of data from an initial backup which is not feasible to transmit over the internet. This ensures your internet connection is not saturated with traffic during the first synchronisation with the ActiveVault platform.

Intelligent Data Transfer

The ActiveVault backup platform is extremely efficient at transmitting data over the internet. Sophisticated technologies select only the changed segments of files (deltas) and stream them using compression to the ActiveVault platform. This ensures your internet connection is not consumed primarily by backup traffic, preserving the speed and integrity of your web browsing.

Local Data Cache

During the backup process the ActiveVault Backup Client maintains a local cache of recently used files. This is a compressed folder containing copies of all files that have been modified within a set time frame. This enables rapid recovery of data from local disk in the event of data loss, or corruption.

Disaster Recovery Option with ActiveApps

ActiveOffice can provide full disaster recovery services for your business by protecting you data with ActiveVault and providing a pre-built disaster recovery environment with ActiveApps. If a disaster should strike, the ActiveOffice technical team have the ability to restore your data into the ActiveApps platform, providing rapid access to company applications and Data.
